Volante

Volante is a stereo delay pedal built around four playback heads, each with its own level, feedback and pan settings. A Type switch selects one of three modelled magnetic media: drum, tape or studio reel-to-reel. Controls for mechanics, wear, low cut and record level shape how worn, noisy or saturated the repeats sound. A spacing control morphs head positions between even, triplet, golden ratio and silver ratio patterns, and a speed switch runs the machine at half, normal or double speed.

Additional functions include a dedicated spring reverb applied after the echo, infinite repeats on a held footswitch, and a mono Sound on Sound looping mode with reverse, pause and tape-stop style behavior. Eight presets can be recalled from the pedal itself using the Favorite footswitch, and MIDI extends this to 300 preset locations. An expression pedal can morph any number of knob settings between heel and toe positions.

The dry path is fully analog, while the effect itself runs on a SHARC DSP with 24-bit/96kHz converters. Connections include stereo 1/4" in and out, an expression jack that also accepts an external tap switch, MultiSwitch Plus or a 1/4" to MIDI cable, 5-pin DIN MIDI in/out and USB. The pedal needs a 9V DC supply that is sold separately.
