Compadre pairs a VCA-based analog compressor with a post-compression boost, and the two sections can run together or independently via their own footswitches. The compressor offers a Studio voicing modelled on vintage rack units and a Squeeze voicing for harder, pedal-style compression. Auto threshold and auto makeup gain mean the Compression knob does most of the work, and a Dry knob blends uncompressed signal back in for parallel compression.
The boost can be set to clean or to a diode soft-clipped dirty mode, with three EQ shapes (treble, mid, flat). The input is a Class A JFET stage, and the signal path stays fully analog end to end. Frequency response extends down to 20Hz, so it works with bass as well as guitar. Bypass is selectable between true bypass (relay) and buffered bypass.
On the rear panel, a TRS expression pedal input turns the output VCA into a volume pedal. A Fav/MIDI jack accepts a MiniSwitch or MultiSwitch Plus for recalling favorite settings, or the MIDI EXP Cable for MIDI control with up to 300 presets. Power is a 9V DC center-negative supply, which is not included.
