TE2 Tempest Engine
The TE2 is a 2RU hardware processing engine for SSL System T broadcast consoles, offering up to 800 processing paths and up to 2048 inputs and outputs. It suits large broadcast, OB and entertainment productions that need scalable DSP with optional redundancy.

The TE2 Tempest Engine is the higher-capacity of the two hardware engines in the System T range. It runs SSL's Optimal Core Processing software on arrayed industrial PC hardware in a lightweight, efficiently cooled 2RU chassis. It supports all five processing packs, which are licensed as perpetual or time-based rental options, and paths and processing can be reallocated in real time without interrupting audio.
The engine provides a pool of up to 800 paths, with 800 dynamics, 800 EQ and 400 delay processors, and up to 2048 simultaneous inputs and outputs. Two engines can be run as a mirrored redundant pair with instant audio changeover, and each can sit in a separate physical zone.
Connectivity is built around audio-over-IP. The engine accepts up to four high-capacity I/O cards, either Dante HC cards (with AES67 capability) or ST 2110 cards with NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 support, so it can work in Dante, ST 2110 or hybrid networks without external bridging. It works with all System T surface and control variants.
