TE1 Tempest Engine
The TE1 Tempest Engine is a 1RU hardware DSP engine for SSL System T broadcast consoles, with 256 processing paths and up to 1024 inputs and outputs. It suits mid-scale broadcast and live productions that need Dante or ST 2110 networked audio.

The TE1 is the processing core of an SSL System T audio system. It runs SSL's patented Optimal Core Processing software on arrayed industrial PC hardware in a controlled operating environment. It is housed in a lightweight, efficiently cooled 1RU chassis. It provides a pool of up to 256 paths, with a processing pool of 256 dynamics, 256 EQ and 128 delay. Paths and processing can be reallocated in real time without interrupting audio.
Capacity scales through software processing packs. TE1 supports Processing Pack 1 and 2, and the larger TE2 supports all five. Licences can be bought as perpetual or as short-term time-based rentals. Two engines can be run as a mirrored redundant pair with instant audio changeover, and each can sit in a separate physical zone.
Network audio connects through an internal high-capacity I/O card, or two cards for a redundant pair. The Dante HC card carries 512 channels each way at 48 kHz, or 256 at 96 kHz. The ST 2110 card offers 256 Tx and 256 Rx channels with NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 control and ST 2022-7 stream redundancy. All System T surfaces and control variants work with all engines.
