The MADI Opti-Coax converts MADI signals in both directions between optical and coaxial formats. It handles up to 64 channels in and 64 out, or 32 channels at 96 kHz. Conversion runs in real time with no added latency and no loss of audio quality.
Besides plain format conversion, two units can be paired to lengthen a coaxial MADI link. The coax signal goes over the optical format between the units, which extends coverage to as much as 1 km.
The front panel has one pair of MADI SC duplex optical input and output connectors and one pair of MADI BNC coaxial input and output connectors. Power comes through a standard IEC C14 mains inlet. The case is all metal with non-slip rubber feet. Up to three units fit side by side in a standard 19-inch rack, and T-slots on both sides offer other mounting options.
