SPL Diamond
Diamond is a digital-to-analog converter and preamplifier for listeners who play music only from digital sources. It has six digital inputs, balanced and unbalanced outputs, an analog volume control and an external word clock input.

Diamond converts digital audio from up to six stereo sources and works as a preamplifier with an analog volume control, operated by a milled aluminum knob with an Alps RK27 potentiometer. Inputs are one USB, one AES/EBU, two coaxial and two optical. The selected input, clock source and detected sampling rate appear on a dot matrix LED display.
The converter section is the DAC768v2, built around an AKM AK4493 SEQ chip and a Spartan 7 FPGA. It handles PCM up to 32 bit / 768 kHz and DSD up to DSD256 over USB. An analog low-pass filter, the SLP120, is built with the maker's VOLTAiR technology, which runs the analog audio stages at +/-60 V. A CLOCK switch lets the unit follow either the clock in the source signal or an external word clock at WORD IN.
Outputs are one balanced XLR pair and one RCA pair, carrying the same signal. The volume control can be taken out of the signal path for each pair with a DIP switch on the back, for example to feed a headphone amplifier with its own volume control. USB is class compliant on Mac and iOS; Windows needs a driver for higher sample rates. The unit is made in Germany.
