The STR-DN1080 is a 7.2-channel home theatre receiver that decodes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X and can drive a 7.1.2 layout, using a phantom surround back setting to simulate rear speakers when only a 5-channel speaker set is used. Flexible speaker relocation and an S-Force PRO front surround mode for two-speaker setups help it adapt to smaller rooms, and D.C.A.C EX auto calibration adjusts speaker frequencies, phase and delay.
Video is handled through six HDMI inputs and two outputs, one of which serves a second zone. 4K/60p (4:4:4) pass-through, HDCP 2.2, HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision are supported, and eARC allows one-cable audio return from a compatible TV. For music it plays DSD natively and supports Linear PCM High-Resolution Audio over USB, HDMI and DLNA, with DSEE HX upscaling for existing files.
Wireless features include Bluetooth with LDAC and NFC one-touch pairing, Wi-Fi, AirPlay, Chromecast built-in and Spotify Connect. Multi-room playback is controlled through the Sony | Music Center app, and Google Home voice control is supported.
