The WL184m is part of a three-model lavalier range that also includes the cardioid WL185m and the omnidirectional WL183m. This model uses a supercardioid polar pattern. The capsule housing is 8 mm shorter than on the earlier WL18X series, and the maker reports a higher dynamic range, with improved maximum SPL, self-noise and general sound quality compared with that series.
The microphone is offered in black or white, and with either a TA4F (4-pin mini) or a LEMO connector. The listed variant is black with a TQG (TA4F) connector, SKU WL184MB/S-TQG, intended for compatible Shure wireless transmitters.
The package includes the lavalier microphone, a single tie clip, a snap-fit foam windscreen and a zippered storage bag. Optional accessories listed for the series are a single-mount tie clip (RK187T1), a dual-mount tie clip (RK187T2) and a replacement snap-fit windscreen (RK187WS).
