The SM86 is a unidirectional condenser microphone built for professional live vocals. Its condenser cartridge is tuned with a tailored frequency response to reproduce vocals clearly, and its housing is designed to cope with the demands of touring.
A cardioid pickup pattern concentrates on the main sound source and reduces background noise, which also makes the microphone a good choice for use with stage monitors and personal monitors. A built-in three-point shock mount limits handling noise, while a two-stage pop filter cuts wind and breath noise.
The microphone ships with a break-resistant A25D clip, a carrying bag and a 5/8" to 3/8" thread adapter for stand mounting. Optional accessories include the A85WS windscreen, the RPM226 replacement grille and the A55M shock mount clip.
