The MX396 is a boundary microphone that puts several cardioid elements into a single low-profile unit, so one device can cover a table that would otherwise need multiple microphones. It is offered in two-element and three-element configurations.
The pickup pattern can be set for end-of-table coverage (300°), centre-of-table coverage (360°) or cross-table coverage (bidirectional). Each element has its own audio output, which lets an installer route the elements separately to a mixer or DSP. A bi-colour status indicator and a programmable mute switch are built in, and a logic input/output allows a remote LED and remote mute control to be connected.
The unit uses CommShield technology. It is aimed at fixed installations in conference rooms where a simple, unobtrusive appearance is wanted. The listed SKU is MX396/C-DUAL.
