KSM8

The KSM8 uses a cartridge with two ultra-thin diaphragms, one active and one passive, together with an inverted airflow system. This arrangement is used to keep proximity effect under control, so the working distance can be increased without colouring the on-axis sound. Mid and high frequencies are kept neutral as a result.

A neodymium magnet sits in a micro-injection mould of SoftMag material to raise output level. A pneumatic shock mount with tuned cavities is built into the cartridge to cut handling noise while leaving low-frequency response intact. A diaphragm stabilization system protects the active diaphragm from plosives and impacts.

The grille is hardened carbon steel, resists dents, and is lined with a hydrophobic woven fabric for protection against moisture, plosives and wind. The microphone ships in black with a zippered carrying pouch and a stand adapter.
