The Beta 98AD/C is a small condenser microphone with a uniform cardioid pickup pattern. It is intended for snares, toms and other percussion, and its frequency response is tailored to those sources. It handles a wide dynamic range, which suits high sound pressure level environments, and the compact design keeps its footprint on the kit small.
The cardioid pattern gives good gain before feedback and rejects off-axis noise. Models in the Beta drum range with an 'A' after the number use a newer capsule, which gives a more natural high-frequency response. It is supplied with the A98D drum mount, which has a flexible gooseneck for precise placement and secure attachment to a drum.
It connects through the supplied 4.6 m (15 ft) C98D heavy-duty cable. An RPM626 in-line preamplifier is included, and a snap-fit windscreen and a zippered carrying bag come in the box.
