Prophet '08 Desktop
The Prophet '08 Module is a tabletop, knob-per-function version of the Prophet '08 polyphonic synthesizer, with analog oscillators, Curtis low-pass filters and analog VCAs. It suits players who want a compact Prophet sound source for desktop or rack use. It is no longer in production.

The Prophet '08 Module carries the full voice architecture and controls of the Prophet '08 Keyboard in a smaller enclosure without keys. Each voice has two digitally controlled analog oscillators, a Curtis analog low-pass filter with selectable 2- or 4-pole operation, and an analog VCA. A modulation matrix with 20 sources and 43 destinations, three envelopes and four LFOs per voice extends it beyond vintage Prophet designs.
Performance and programming tools include a gated 16 x 4 step sequencer, a programmable arpeggiator, and split or stacked key modes with separate stereo outputs per layer. It stores 256 programs, each with two layers. A panel of 52 knobs and 22 buttons allows editing with little menu diving. It can also act as an expander for another Prophet '08, keyboard or module, raising polyphony to 16 voices.
Connections are on the back panel: MIDI In, Out, Thru and Poly Chain, two stereo 1/4" outputs, a sustain pedal input, a pedal/CV input and a headphone jack. Oiled walnut end panels are fitted and rack ears allow 4U rack mounting.
