The HD 599 is a full-size, open-back, over-ear headphone from Sennheiser's 500 series. It uses 38 mm transducers with the Ergonomic Acoustic Refinement (E.A.R.) design, which directs the sound straight into the ear, for a wide and natural spatial presentation.
The large ear cups carry soft, replaceable ear pads, and the headband design is meant for long listening sessions. Styling is ivory, with brown stitching on the headband and matte metallic details on the ear cups and headband. The headphones have no active noise cancellation.
It connects with a detachable cable that ends in a 3.5 mm jack. A screw-on 6.35 mm adapter is included for amplifiers and other gear with a larger socket. Sennheiser lists a balanced 4.4 mm cable and a boom-arm microphone for the 500 series as optional accessories. A drawstring storage bag comes in the box.
