The HD 300 PROtect is a closed dynamic headphone built for professional monitoring. Its ActiveGard circuit can be switched on to lower sudden loud signals to a 110 dB SPL ceiling at 1 kHz, keeping the signal undistorted while protecting hearing. The design is intended to meet the European noise directive for workplace safety.
The sound is tuned to be linear and neutral, with a frequency response of 6 Hz to 25 kHz and distortion below 0.1 % at 1 kHz and 100 dB SPL. Soft viscoelastic earpads and a balanced contact pressure of 6.0 N are meant to keep the headphone comfortable over several hours, and the closed earcups attenuate ambient noise passively by up to 32 dB.
The headphone connects with a detachable 1.5 m cable ending in a 3.5 mm jack, using Sennheiser's system connector, so the cable can be exchanged. A 1/4 inch adapter jack is supplied for larger sockets.
