The set pairs an EW-DX EM 2 two-channel rack receiver with two EW-DX SK bodypack transmitters, each fitted with an MKE 2 omnidirectional clip-on lavalier. Two BA 70 lithium-ion battery packs are included and give up to 12 hours of operation. The transmitters have charging contacts for in-device charging with the separately sold CHG 70N charger.
The system uses the SePAC codec, which gives 134 dB of input dynamic range, so transmitter gain does not need to be set, and 1.9 ms of wireless latency. An AutoScan function checks the RF environment and assigns frequencies with equidistant spacing: 600 kHz spacing for up to 146 channels in Standard Mode, or 300 kHz spacing for up to 293 channels in Link Density mode. Switching bandwidth is up to 88 MHz, and transmission can be secured with AES 256 encryption. This version covers the Q1-9 range of 470.2-550 MHz.
The receiver is network enabled and can be controlled with Sennheiser Control Cockpit, Wireless Systems Manager, or third-party control systems through plug-ins. The Smart Assist App connects over Bluetooth Low Energy at distances up to 25 metres. The bodypacks have an E-Ink display that keeps showing settings when the batteries are removed, and they accept other Sennheiser lavalier and headset microphones with a 3.5 mm jack.
