The set pairs an EW-D EM rack receiver with an EW-D SK bodypack transmitter and an ME 4 cardioid lavalier microphone. It transmits digitally in the UHF band, in the Q1-6 range (470.2-526 MHz), and is aimed at daily use on stage by people who speak or present. The ME 4 is a pre-polarized condenser capsule with a cardioid pattern, and the bodypack has a metal housing.
The system has a 134 dB audio input dynamic range, so input sensitivity does not need adjusting. Intermodulation is eliminated, which allows channels to sit in an equidistant grid 600 kHz apart. With 56 MHz of tuning bandwidth, up to 90 channels are possible, and 2,240 frequencies can be selected for fine tuning. An auto scan function finds a usable connection quickly.
Setup and operation at a distance are handled through the Smart Assist app on Android or iOS, which connects over Bluetooth Low Energy. The bodypack runs for up to 8 hours on the two supplied AA batteries, or up to 12 hours on a separately sold lithium-ion battery pack. The receiver ships with two rod antennas and a rackmount set.
