The set is a UHF digital wireless system built around a stationary EW-D EM receiver. It includes an EW-D SKM-S handheld transmitter fitted with an MMD 835 dynamic cardioid capsule, plus an EW-D SK bodypack transmitter with a ME 2 clip-on lavalier microphone, so one package covers both handheld and body-worn use. The bodypack has a metal housing.
The system has a 134 dB input dynamic range, so sensitivity adjustment is not needed. Transmitters can be spaced on an equidistant 600 kHz grid because intermodulation is eliminated. With 56 MHz of tuning bandwidth, up to 90 channels are possible, and 2,240 frequencies can be selected for fine tuning. An auto scan function finds a usable frequency.
Setup and monitoring can be done from a phone or tablet through the Smart Assist app, which connects over Bluetooth Low Energy on Android and iOS. The transmitters run on two supplied AA batteries for up to 8 hours, or up to 12 hours with a Lithium-Ion battery pack that is sold separately. This version covers the Q1-6 range (470.2–526 MHz).
