The Z5600a II is a large-diaphragm tube condensor microphone with a 12AX7 tube, a handmade 1-inch capsule and nine graduated polar patterns. It suits vocals, drums, room, guitar, strings and wind in studio and live recording.

The Z5600a II is a large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone. It uses a handmade, individually tuned true-condenser capsule with gold-sputtered Mylar diaphragms, a 12AX7/ECC83 tube and a discrete Class A amplifier stage with an audio transformer. The housing is all metal and handmade.
A nine-position switch steps through omni, cardioid and figure-8 patterns, with three extra steps between each. Together with a switchable 50 Hz low-cut filter and a switchable 10 dB pad, this lets it cover quiet room miking as well as loud sources such as drum kits, room mics and guitar or bass cabinets. Recommended uses include vocals, drums, overheads, room, acoustic and electric guitar, orchestra and strings, piano, woodwinds and brass.
The microphone connects through a separate floor box, which supplies the power and has a 3-pin XLR male output. Its signal is mic level, so it needs a mic preamp or audio interface, and phantom power is not needed because the supply powers the microphone. A cable with 8-pin connectors, a custom shock mount and an IEC power cable come in the box.
