The X1 USB is a condenser microphone with a USB connection, so it records straight to a computer without an external interface. It combines a handmade condenser capsule with 24-bit, 192 kHz digital circuitry, and is described as having a very natural frequency response.
The microphone has switchable bass-cut and attenuation filters, set to a balanced sensitivity level. The attenuation is -10 dB, and a bass filter is also available. This helps with louder sources and with close-up placement.
Recommended applications cover vocals, drums, overheads, room miking, acoustic and electric guitar, orchestra and strings, piano, wind instruments and brass. Drivers based on XMOS are offered for Windows, with installation instructions for the USB driver.
