The sE4400a is a phantom-powered large-diaphragm condenser with a 1-inch true condenser capsule, hand-made and individually tuned at the maker's own factory. The diaphragm is gold-sputtered Mylar, and the body is entirely metal with a gold-plated 3-pin XLR connector.

Two switches on the body combine to give six pickup patterns, including cardioide, hypercardioid, omni and figure-8. A 60 / 120 Hz switchable low-cut filter and switchable -10 / -20 dB pads allow it to handle loud sources such as drum kits, percussion and guitar or bass cabinets, with a maximum SPL of up to 142 dB. The flat, rounded body is under 3/4 inch thick and works with a custom shockmount that lets the mic be centred, flipped, or angled, for example flat against a drum head or pushed inside a kick drum.

The mic connects over balanced XLR and needs 48 V phantom power. It is also sold as a matched pair, with capsules tuned together at the factory, a precision stereo mounting bar, two shockmounts and a carry case.
