The SoundBird V1 is a condenser microphone with a solid brass body, which the maker says helps keep radio-frequency interference out of the signal. Its output is a gold-plated XLR connector, intended to resist corrosion and keep signal transfer reliable.
Two switchable features help with difficult sources. A -10 dB pad lowers the input level so loud sounds can be recorded without clipping, and a 200 Hz high-pass filter cuts low-frequency rumble such as air-conditioning noise.
The microphone can be powered in two ways: from 48V phantom power supplied by a mixer or interface over the XLR cable, or from an AA battery. A reviewer on the maker's store describes the pickup as highly directional with a natural sound. The product carries a 2-year global warranty, handled by replacement rather than repair.
