The SG MS1 combines a cardioid mid capsule with a bi-directional side capsule in a small all-metal body. It can output decoded left/right stereo for fast turnaround work, raw mid-side signals for adjusting stereo width in post-production, or mono using either the cardioid or the figure-8 pattern. Mono cardioid suits dialogue and vlogging, while mono bi-directional suits two-person interviews and sound effects.
Stereo width, output mode and gain can be changed in the Saramonic System app, which also shows real-time levels. The microphone covers 20 Hz to 20 kHz and is described as sensitive, with clear consonants and natural vocal reproduction. It is 5.9 inches long and weighs 3.2 oz, which keeps it unobtrusive on a camera or portable recorder.
Connections include a 5-pin XLR output via a breakout cable, 3.5 mm TRS and USB-C digital output, so it works with cameras, recorders, mixers, computers and mobile devices. Power comes from 48V phantom power, USB-C, or a built-in rechargeable battery rated for up to 5 hours. The kit includes cables, shock mount, windscreens, thread adapters and a carrying case.
