The VT-4 is a hands-on voice processor built around physical controls rather than menus. Dedicated faders adjust pitch and formant in real time, and an Auto-Pitch knob sets the amount of hard-tuned correction. Five effect groups (Robot, Megaphone, Vocoder, Harmony and Reverb) each offer four one-touch variations, and several effects can be combined at once. Settings can be stored by holding a preset button, with eight scene memories available.
A MIDI keyboard connected to the MIDI IN jack can control the Auto-Pitch, harmony and vocoder engines, so the voice can be tuned to played notes or harmonised along with chords. Without a keyboard, the harmony and vocoder effects respond to the voice alone.
Inputs are a rear combo XLR/TRS jack with phantom power and a front stereo mini jack with plug-in power. Outputs are two 1/4-inch line jacks and a headphone jack. A USB Type-B port provides audio to and from a computer, which suits streaming, podcasting and recording. Power comes from four AA batteries or USB bus power.
