The TD-1KV is a compact electronic drum set built around the TD-1 sound module. It has 15 preset drum kits, a mesh-head PDX-8 snare with separate head and rim triggering, three tom pads, a crash/ride cymbal and a hi-hat with a control pedal. The cymbals respond to bow and edge hits and support choking, and the hi-hat follows foot movement.

For practice, the module includes 10 Coach exercises, a metronome with five rhythm types and eight sounds, a recorder and 15 onboard songs. A stereo Mix In jack lets a phone or music player be played along with. The kick pedal has no beater, which lowers noise, and a headphone output allows silent playing. Optional NE-10 Noise Eater boards further reduce vibration transfer to the floor.

The module connects to a computer over USB-MIDI with a single USB cable, for use with recording software, the DT-1 V-Drums Tutor and the V-Drums Friend Jam series apps. The rack adjusts in height for players from children to adults, and the snare angle and cymbal heights can be tuned. Options include the OP-TD1C extra cymbal, KT-10 or KD-9 kick units, PM-03 monitor and TDM-3 mat.
