The SPD::ONE WAV PAD is a single-pad percussion unit with a 4 GB internal drive. Files in WAV format (44.1 kHz, 16-bit, mono or stereo) are copied over USB by dragging them into the drive that appears on a Mac or PC. Twelve sounds can be stored and selected with a 12-position bank selector, and each can be a one-shot sample or a full-length backing track. Playback can be polyphonic, monophonic or alternate.
Up to three audio files can be layered on one hit, and different sounds can be assigned to different playing velocities, for example a closed hi-hat on soft hits and an open one on harder hits. A click track can be loaded alongside a backing track: the click is sent only to the headphones output, while the backing track goes to both the master and headphones outputs. A Mix knob sets the balance between them. Threshold and sensitivity are set with two dials, and four main knobs cover sound selection, volume and balance.
The unit has a stereo master output and a separate stereo headphones output, both on 1/4-inch jacks. It runs on four AA batteries or an AC adaptor and has a metal body. A mounting adapter in the box clamps it to hi-hat, cymbal, tom or mic stands, and it can also sit on a floor or table. USB-MIDI support lets it act as a pad controller for DAW software.
