The RP501R is a cabinet-style digital piano built around an 88-key PHA-4 Standard keyboard with escapement and Ivory Feel surfaces. Its sound engine uses SuperNATURAL piano modelling with always-on damper, string and key-off resonance, 128-voice polyphony and 305 further tones, including 8 drum sets and an SFX set. The pedal unit has damper, soft and sostenuto pedals, with continuous detection on the damper and soft pedals.
For practice it provides a metronome, a one-part SMF recorder, Twin Piano mode, Dual and Split modes, and 72 rhythm styles with two variations each. The internal library holds Piano Masterpieces, Easy Piano, Czerny, Hanon and scale songs. Audio (WAV) and MIDI files can be played from USB memory, and a Headphones 3D Ambience effect is available.
It connects to tablets and phones over USB and, in countries where the feature is offered, Bluetooth MIDI. This works with apps such as Piano Partner 2 and piaScore, and the pedal can turn score pages. Two 12 cm speakers are driven by 12 W x 2 amplification. Connectors include two headphone jacks, a stereo mini input and output, a USB computer port and a USB memory port.
