The RD-2000 is an aluminium-bodied stage piano built around two separate sound engines. One is dedicated to acoustic piano sounds and offers full polyphony. The other is a SuperNATURAL engine with 128 voices that covers vintage electric pianos, including recreations of the RD-1000 and MKS-20, plus clavinet, Virtual Tone Wheel organs, strings, brass and synths. More than 1,100 non-piano tones are included, and two wave expansion slots take additional sounds from Roland's Axial site. Live Sets from the RD-800 are compatible.
The PHA-50 keyboard has 88 keys, a wood and molded hybrid construction, escapement and ebony/ivory feel. For live use there are eight knobs with LED indicators, nine sliders, a pitch/mod lever and two assignable modulation wheels. Eight zones can split or layer sounds, and 100 scene memories store whole keyboard setups for one-touch recall.
Outputs are balanced XLR and 1/4-inch main outs plus a sub output. A USB audio/MIDI interface runs at 24-bit and up to 192 kHz so software instruments can be played and routed through the piano. Four pedal inputs are provided, with a damper pedal in the box.
