The JUPITER-80 is a 76-note live keyboard whose sound engine combines modelled vintage-style synth tones with acoustic instruments such as pianos, strings and brass. Its basic unit, the Live Set, stacks four tones, each with its own DSP. Upper and Lower Live Sets plus a Solo part give a layered stack of up to nine tones, and complete setups can be stored as Registrations for recall on stage.
Tone Blender adjusts several parameters at once and lets the result be captured as a new Live Set, or assigned to controllers such as the D Beam. Behavior Modeling reproduces playing articulations of acoustic instruments, such as flamenco strums, mallet rolls and trumpet trills, without changing patches. Version 2 software adds extra low-pass filter types, more multi-effects routing structures and a Registration Play screen.
Control comes from an 800 x 480 touchscreen, assignable knobs and buttons, part-level sliders and a pitch bend/modulation lever. Balanced XLR and TRS outputs, MIDI, a USB computer port for audio and MIDI, and a USB memory port for playing and recording audio files are fitted.
