The HP-203 is a cabinet digital piano with an 88-key PHA II hammer-action keyboard that imitates the escapement feel of a grand piano. Touch is heavier in the bass and lighter in the treble, and the sound engine uses multi-sampled piano tones with resonance effects (key off, string and damper). A continuous damper pedal allows half-pedal control, and the piano has 128-voice polyphony and 306 tones.
Practice and performance tools include Whole, Dual, Split and Twin Piano keyboard modes, a three-track recorder that stores up to 99 songs, a metronome, and 65 internal songs plus 7 tone demo songs. A USB Host port plays Standard MIDI Files and WAV audio, and an optional commercial USB CD drive adds audio CD playback with transpose and center cancel for playing along.
The piano has a 30 W x 2 amplifier with two 12 cm speakers, two headphone jacks, stereo line inputs and outputs, MIDI IN/OUT and a USB connector. It is offered in Mahogany and Satin Black finishes.
