The FP-7 is a portable digital piano built around a multi-sampled 88-key piano sound engine. It models details of an acoustic piano such as hammer and damper noise and string and key-off resonance. The PHA II (Progressive Hammer Action II) keyboard offers 100 adjustable touch levels, and 128-voice polyphony keeps notes sustaining when playing fast or dense passages.
Beyond piano, the unit carries 339 tones (including 6 tone-wheel organ sounds) and 9 drum sets, a GM2/GS/XG lite compatible sound generator, reverb, 62 digital effect types, 3 sound control types and a 4-band equalizer. Session Partner provides 80 rhythm types with two variations each, with chord progressions either automatic or entered from the keyboard. A 3-track recorder, 65 internal songs and 10 demo songs are included. The Audio Key function plays WAV files from a USB memory stick using the keys.
A graphic backlit LCD handles operation, and two 13 W speakers with speaker boxes are built in. Connections include line outputs and inputs, a mix-in jack, two headphone jacks, USB (MIDI), MIDI In/Out, a USB memory connector and pedal jacks. Cakewalk SONAR LE recording software is supplied.
