The FA-08 is the 88-note member of Roland's FA workstation series. It combines a sound engine drawn from the INTEGRA-7 (SuperNATURAL acoustic, synth and drum tones plus PCM tones) with a 16-part studio set structure, a 16-track MIDI sequencer and a sampler with 16 pads across 4 banks. Sounds can be layered or split, and the Tone Remain function lets notes and effect tails continue when switching tones.
Effects include 16 multi-effect systems, part EQ, drum COMP+EQ, chorus, reverb, a master compressor and master EQ, plus TFX total effects that process the whole output. Six assignable Sound Modify knobs, a D-BEAM controller, arpeggiator, rhythm patterns and chord memory provide real-time control. Studio sets can also store MIDI messages so the unit can reconfigure external gear when a set is selected.
The FA-08 uses SDHC cards for sampling, song export and storage. A USB computer port carries audio and MIDI, so it can serve as an audio interface and DAW controller, and USB update and expansion ports allow firmware updates and extra wave data from the Axial library. It also has guitar/mic and line inputs, MIDI in and out, and pedal jacks.
