The E-X30 combines a 61-note velocity-sensitive keyboard with a sound engine offering 433 tones plus 256 GM2 tones, 8 drum sets plus 9 GM2 sets, and 256 voices of polyphony. Its arranger section has 347 styles, four One Touch settings per style and controls for intro, ending, fill-ins and sync start, so a melody in the right hand and chords in the left produce a full accompaniment.
The instrument includes sounds and styles from Asia, Brazil and the Middle East. Scale tuning is supported by 12 user scale memories and quarter-tone adjustment of each note from C to B within a range of -50 to +50 cents. A 12-pad MP3 playback function reads audio files from a USB memory stick. There are 160 internal songs and a recorder for 10 songs.
The keyboard has two 10 W speakers, a microphone input, line outputs, a headphone jack, a sustain pedal jack, and USB ports for a computer and for a memory stick. It runs from an AC adaptor or from six AA alkaline batteries, and weighs 6.2 kg.
