The Blues Cube Hot "British EL84 Modified" is a variant of the Blues Cube Hot combo, voiced after a traditional British combo with EL84 tubes. It uses Roland's Tube Logic design to model tube behaviour such as preamp and output-stage saturation, power supply sag and touch response. The result is a clean, chiming tone at low volume and increasing crunch as the volume is turned up. The amp has no actual tubes to maintain.
Controls are Volume, Bass, Middle, Treble, Reverb and Master, with footswitchable Boost for extra gain and Tone for brighter presence. A four-position Power Control (0.5 W, 5 W, 15 W, Max) lets the output stage be pushed at lower volumes. The 30 W amp has a custom 12-inch speaker in an open-back poplar plywood cabinet and weighs 12.6 kg.
The rear panel has a footswitch jack for Boost and Tone, a line output and a USB type B port for recording directly to a computer. A headphone jack and a 1/4-inch instrument input are on board. Roland lists the FS-5L, FS-6 and FS-7 footswitches as optional accessories.
