The X8 is an HDCP-compliant routing and video wall processor built around a card-frame design. Its SmartSlot system accepts up to 24 inputs and 12 outputs, and any input can be scaled, positioned, routed or transcoded to any output, or assembled as layers across several outputs. Scaling is handled by RGBlink's 3rd generation video scaling technology.
Input and output hardware is based on hot-swappable I/O modules. Each input module supports up to 4 signals at 4K2K@60, and the HDMI 2.0 output module supports up to 2 signals at 4K2K@60. The unit handles 8K input, HDR10 and HLG content, EDID management within the 8K range, and standard or custom output resolutions within the 4K range. A 6+2 layer scheme provides up to six 4K layers on any output port, with two further layers selectable from the existing six sources.
Other features include OSD overlay, genlock/sync, and control through the XPOSE 2.0 software. Downloads published for the unit include a specification, quick start guide, user manual and firmware.
