The RP-7000 is a manual, three-speed (33 1/3, 45 and 78 RPM) turntable with a quartz-locked direct drive and a brushless DC motor. Torque can be set between roughly 1600 and 4500 g/cm, from a Classic feel to a HiTorque setting. The platter is aluminium die cast, the housing is metal, and the finish is a scratch-resistant painted metallic. A rubber inlay, shock-proof feet and a vibration-resistant base limit vibration and ambient noise.
Pitch is set with a high-resolution digital fader over three ranges: +/-8%, +/-16% and +/-50%. Further controls include a reverse switch, a second start/stop button for vertical positioning, and an adjustable start/stop time of 0.2 to 6 seconds. The vertically adjustable S-shaped tonearm has anti-skating, and the stylus light is a replaceable, freely rotating LED.
A line/phono switch lets the deck feed line inputs on mixers or amps directly, with no grounding wire needed. The mains and RCA cables are removable, and a sunk-in connection cavity makes it easier to fit the deck into a case. A slipmat and tonearm light are included, but no stylus.
