Rb3000

The RB3000 is a tonearm assembled by hand by Rega technicians in the UK. Its bearings are individually chosen so that each one is an interference fit with its spindle, matching both inside and outside diameters. Rega developed this method to increase the amount of detail retrieved from the groove, and it gives near frictionless movement both horizontally and vertically.

The structure uses as few mechanical joints as possible and stiff materials in the critical areas. Tolerances are tight enough that no adhesive is used anywhere in the build. A new low-mass, precision-engineered vertical bearing assembly complements the design approach of the Planar 10 turntable. The arm tube is a redesigned, hand-polished Rega tube that redistributes mass, adds stiffness and rigidity, and lowers stress on the bearings and resonances.

The arm has a low effective mass of 11 g, a 236.5 mm effective length and a 222 mm mounting distance. No cartridge is included. Rega suggests moving coil cartridges such as the Apheta 3, Aphelion 2 Ref, Ania Pro and Ania, all using the Rega three point mounting system.
