Planar 3

The Planar 3 is a redesign of Rega's long-running 'Three' turntable, carrying over only two components from the earlier RP3. It uses a lightweight laminated acrylic plinth reinforced by a double-brace system placed between the tonearm mount and the main bearing. The aim is a stiff, low-mass structure that passes less motor and bearing energy into the record.

The hand-assembled RB330 tonearm has a new bearing housing and a tube shaped to reduce resonance points. A 24 V low-noise motor with an updated control board drives a 12 mm polished-edge float glass platter over a redesigned sub platter with a brass main hub. The deck can be fitted at the factory with a Rega Nd3 or Nd5 moving magnet cartridge, and it ships with a dust cover and plinth protectors.

Signal output is by RCA/phono. A Mini DIN socket allows connection of the optional Neo power supply for electronic speed change. The plinth comes in gloss white, gloss black, gloss red or light oak effect.
