The Tank Driver is a 500 series module that acts as a balanced interface for guitar spring reverbs. It drives a line-level signal through a reverb tank and returns the result, so the reverb from a guitar amp can be used as an effect when mixing or adding space to recordings. The drive circuit is optimized for low-noise operation and works with both modern and vintage spring reverb models.
It can be used with a tank removed from a non-working amp and placed on a table, with input and output normally marked on the tank. It can also be used with an amp that is still intact, such as a Fender Twin, by disconnecting the two RCA connectors going to the reverb tank and connecting the module in their place. Different amps have different tanks, and smaller tanks give a shorter decay.
For a stereo setup, a pre-recorded stereo track can be sent through two Tank Drivers, which keeps the stereo image while letting each side use a different tank. The maker has marked the product as discontinued and no longer shipping, with a user guide and smart sheet provided for existing owners.
