SAT-2

The SAT-2 is a passive stereo level-control device that needs no power. It can work as a compact monitor controller between a playback device or recording interface and a pair of powered speakers, giving a master volume knob in easy reach. It can also reduce the output of mic preamps or compressors before they reach an audio interface, so the preamps can be driven hard without clipping the converter inputs.

A 4-pole rotary control keeps left and right channels tracking together across the full range of the trim pot, preserving the balance of stereo sources. Mute and mono switches let the user silence the outputs or check a mix for mono phase compatibility. A dim switch with an adjustable level temporarily lowers the volume without losing the main volume setting.

Other uses include parallel effects processing (mono switch engaged, one output to the interface and the other to an effects unit and a second track), trimming an aux send from a mixing console to feed cameras or field recorders, and providing local volume control for powered speakers in another room of a multi-zone PA system.
