The Q4 is a 500 series equalizer with four semi-parametric bands. Its circuit is fully discrete and class-A, and the filters are true state-variable designs, so no integrated circuits are used in the signal path. Each band can boost or cut by up to 12 dB.
Typical uses include adding top-end sparkle or strengthening the lower mids on a voice after a mic preamp, adding air, low-end weight or mid cuts to individual instrument tracks, and giving digital program material a warmer analog character.
The module fits any standard 500 series rack, which supplies power and audio connections. The manufacturer lists the product as discontinued and no longer shipping, with a user guide and a smart sheet still available for existing owners.
