The JX-42 is a switcher for up to four guitars or basses and two amplifiers. Inputs are chosen with radio-style selector switches on the unit, and the amp outputs can be changed locally or remotely.
Each input has its own trim control, which helps balance levels between instruments, for example when a wireless system is mixed with wired guitars. A Drag Control function provides load correction, and transformer isolation is used to break ground loops between the rig and the amps.
Remote control is available with the optional JR-2 and JR-5 footswitches. In a typical setup the artist switches amps with the JR-2 while a guitar tech selects instruments with the JR-5. A direct box can be attached to output B for an upright bass, so the stage amp is muted automatically when that output is selected. The product has been discontinued, and a user guide is offered for existing owners.
