A footswitch-operated switcher for condenser or dynamic microphones that supplies 48V phantom power and sends the mic signal to one of two outputs. Intended for stage vocalists who want to talk to band members or technicians via the monitors without noise in the PA.

  • Switches one mic between Output-A and Output-B
  • Supplies 48V phantom power for condenser mics
  • Also works with dynamic microphones
  • Footswitch configurable as latching or momentary
  • 5 ms relay delay for silent switching
  • Usable as a cough/mute switch with Output-B unconnected

Description

The HotShot 48V lets a performer redirect a vocal microphone from the main PA feed to a second destination, such as the stage monitor system, with a footswitch. It supplies 48V phantom power for condenser microphones and also works with dynamic mics. LEDs show which output is currently active.

Switching is done with active circuitry and a time-delay microcontroller. A 5 millisecond delay is added when the relay engages, which gives any DC leakage time to dissipate so that no pops or clicks reach the PA, including when phantom power or powered devices are connected.

The footswitch can be set to latching operation (press once for Output-B, press again to return to Output-A) or momentary operation (hold for Output-B). Leaving Output-B unconnected turns the unit into a hands-free cough or mute switch. The unit has a single mic input and two outputs, A and B.
