The Headload Prodigy combines a speaker load box with a direct box. With a guitar amp connected to it, the amp can be pushed into higher gain for better tone while the sound level on stage stays low. Output level can be set to selectable amounts or fully attenuated, and the unit handles up to 100 watts RMS.
A balanced JDX direct out carries the amp signal to a PA system, in-ear monitors or a recording interface, so no microphone is needed and the sound stays consistent from night to night. A built-in headphone amplifier allows silent practice.
In the studio the speaker can be disconnected and the Prodigy takes the load, with the JDX output feeding the recording system. The direct out can also split the signal to a second amp, or be combined with a miked cabinet for a larger sound. The product has been discontinued and is documented for existing owners.
