The Firefly combines an active direct box with a tube drive circuit that adds warmth and harmonics to an instrument signal. It uses a 12AX7 tube and a class-A front end, and a drag control corrects the load the instrument sees to help shape tone.
Two inputs, each with its own level control, make it easy to switch between instruments such as an active and a passive bass. Remote switching is possible with the optional JR2 remote control. The 4 meg-ohm piezo input allows acoustic instruments to connect directly without a preamp, and a variable high-pass filter helps remove low-frequency resonance and feedback, for example with an upright bass.
