Cabbone EX

The Cabbone EX connects a single amplifier head to two speaker cabinets and selects between them. Switching is done with high-power gold-contact relays, so the signal path stays a straight wire with no added coloration or distortion. During a change, the two outputs briefly overlap, which means the amplifier is never left without a speaker load. This makes it suitable for both tube and solid-state amplifiers.

Remote control is handled by the Slingshot input, which accepts any standard contact closure. That allows cabinet changes from a pedalboard, a MIDI pedalboard controller, a sequencer, or another Slingshot-equipped device such as the Loopbone or SW2. Slingshot inputs can also be linked for stereo operation. If power to the unit is lost, Safe-Mode operation resets it and connects the head to output 1.

Typical uses include putting a combo amp's head section onto a different cabinet, alternating between two half-stacks for lead and rhythm tones, and switching feeds between PA speakers in venues such as restaurants and clubs.
