S-5

The S-5 is a three-way floorstanding speaker in QUAD's S Series. A 45 x 12mm true ribbon handles the treble, a 100mm Woven Kevlar driver covers the midrange, and two 165mm Woven Kevlar drivers handle the bass. Crossover points are set at 570Hz and 3.2kHz.
The cabinet has a volume of 72.4 litres and uses an ABR (auxiliary bass radiator) design, with three 165mm elements in that role. Quoted frequency response is 42Hz to 23kHz (+/-3dB), with bass extension to 35Hz at -6dB. Sensitivity is 90dB (2.83V at 1m), nominal impedance is 6Ω with a minimum of 3.2Ω, and the recommended amplifier power range is 40-200W.
The speaker measures (1070+55) x 205 x (330+30)mm and weighs 25.32kg each. It is offered in Black Oak, Piano Black, Piano White and Sapele Mahogany finishes. A brochure and manual are available as downloads. Connection is by conventional speaker cable from an amplifier.
