The QC Twenty Four is a stereo pre-amplifier that uses one 6111 twin triode as its gain stage. The designer chose the valve from new old stock, and the unit is built around the idea of keeping the signal path as direct as possible. Input selection is done with relays, and the transformers are specified by an outside specialist.
On the back panel there are five line-level inputs, labelled CD, Tuner, Aux 1 and Aux 2, plus an optional Phono port. Two buffered tape loops provide Tape Play and Record connections for recorders. Two main outputs feed the power amplifier or amplifiers.
Quoted figures include 15dB of line-stage gain, a frequency response of 5Hz to 50kHz (+0dB/-0.5dB), hum and noise better than -80dB, and a recommended minimum load of 50k Ohms. Maximum power consumption is 15VA. A related QC Twenty Four P model is listed alongside it.
