The Platina Stream is a network player in QUAD's Platina range. It has a rigid metal chassis, side-mounted heat sinks, anti-resonance feet and an anodised fascia. A machined-aluminium knob and function keys sit beside a 4.3-inch, 800 × 480 pixel IPS display, which can show artwork, detailed data or VU meters, or be dimmed.
The converter is an ESS Sabre ES9038PRO eight-channel DAC with dual master clocks, handling PCM up to 768 kHz and native DSD512. Streaming runs through Qobuz Connect, Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect (including lossless), AirPlay 2, TuneIn Radio and UPnP. It is Roon Ready and also plays files from USB drives. A quad-core Cortex-A53 processor at 1.8 GHz handles library indexing and playback control.
The unit connects by Gigabit Ethernet or dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4/5 GHz). Outputs are balanced XLR and RCA analogue, plus coaxial and optical digital. It is controlled from the QUAD Platina app on iOS or Android, the front-panel encoder or the supplied remote. The app merges network shares, USB drives and streaming services into one searchable library.
