The ERA-1 is a pair of planar diaphragm headphones and the first headphone model from QUAD. Its planar magnetic driver is intended to give a fast, open and transparent presentation, drawing on the brand's long experience with electrostatic panel loudspeakers such as the ESL series.
The driver has a nominal impedance of 20Ω and a sensitivity of 94 dB/mW, with a stated frequency response of 10 Hz to 40,000 Hz. Total harmonic distortion is specified at 0.2% or lower, measured at 1 kHz and 100 dB, and rated input power is 100mW. Without its cable the headphones weigh 420g.
